CORRECT QUESTION :-

  • If the numerator of a fraction is 6 less than the denominator and if 3 is added to numerator the fraction is equal to 3/4.Find the original fraction.

GIVEN :-

  • The numerator of a fraction is 6 less than the denominator.
  • 3 is added to numerator the fraction is equal to 3/4.

TO FIND :-

  • The original fraction.

SOLUTION :-

Let the denominator be x.

Numerator = x - 6

Original fraction = Numerator/denominator

Original fraction =( x - 6 )/x

A.T.Q

If 3 is added to numerator

Numerator = x - 6 + 3 = x - 3

New fraction = ( x - 3 )/x

AGAIN A.T.Q

( x - 3 )/x = 3/4

4(x - 3) = 3x

4x - 12 = 3x

4x - 3x = 12

x = 12

Therefore we found value of x = 12

Original fraction = ( x - 6 )/x

= ( 12 - 6 )/12

= 6/12

Original fraction = 1/2

Hence the Original fraction is 1/2

\mathcal{\huge{\underline{\purple{Solution:-}}}}

GIVEN :-

▶ The numerator of a fraction is 6 less than the denominator.

▶If 3 is added to numerator the fraction is equal to 3/4.

TO FIND :-

The original fraction.

SOLUTION :-

Let the denominator be x.

The Numerator is = (x - 6)

So, Original fraction = Numerator/denominator

= ( x - 6 ) / x

According to the question,

▶ If 3 is added to numerator

↗ Numerator = (x - 6 + 3) = x - 3

↗ So the new new fraction obtained = (x - 3 /x

According to the question ,

↗ x - 3 /x = 3/4

↗ 4(x - 3) = 3x

↗ 4x - 12 = 3x

↗ 4x - 3x = 12

x = 12

Therefore we found value of x = 12

➡ Original fraction = x - 6 /x

➡ ( 12 - 6 )/12

➡ 6/12

Original fraction = 1/2

Hence the Original fraction is 1/2
