Given : numerator of a fraction is decreased by 40% and the  Denominator is increased by 100% the  new value is 1

To find  :  Original Fraction

Solution:

Let say original fraction is p/q

p - numerator

q denominator

numerator of a fraction is decreased by 40%

new numerator = p - (40/100)p

= 60p/100

= 3p/5

denominator is increased by 100%

=> New denominator = q  + (100/100)q

= 2q

New Value = 1

=> New numerator  = New Denominator

=> 3p/5  = 2q

=>  3p = 10q

=> p/q  = 10/3

Original fraction   = 10/3
