Define x:

Let the number be x

and the denominator be y

Fraction = x/y

Numerator is increased by 500%

⇒ x + 5x = 6x

Denominator is increased by 300%

⇒ y + 3y = 4y

Solve x:

The resultant fraction is 2

6x/4y = 2

(Simplify the fraction)

3x/2y = 2

(Divide both sides by 3/2)

x/y = 2 ÷ 3/2

x/y = 2 x 2/3

x/y = 4/3

Find the original fraction:

Original Fraction = x/y = 4/3

Answer: The original fraction is 4/3
