Let the side be a

The perimeter of the square=40 cm

4a=40

a=10

Therefore the side of the square is 10 cm

Diagonal of the square

=\sqrt{2 a^{2} } \\ =\sqrt{2 (10^{2}) } \\ =\sqrt{200} \\ =14.14 cm

Area of the square = a^{2}

                                =100sq.cm
