what is coaxial cable write its advantages and disadvantages
Answers
Coaxial cable consists of copper or aluminium wire wrapped with insulating layer of a flexible material. There is an inner conductor and an outer conductor both separated by an insulator. The insulation layers helps to minimise the interference and distortion. The transmission speed ranges from 200 million to more than 500 million bits per second. It is widely used for cable television systems office buildings and other work sites for local area networks
Advantages :-
1. Highly resistant to signal interference
2. High bandwidth
Disadvantages :-
1. It is difficult to install and not suitable for long distance networks
2. The insulation of a coaxial cable may degrade which would result into the replacement of the cable
3. It does not ensure date security as they can be tapped
