Answer:

Data:

          perimeter = 14 cm

           width    =   3/4 cm

Let:        length = x

Formula:

             perimeter = 2 length + 2 width

Now, Put the  values in above formula :

            14 = 2x + 2 (3 / 4)

           14=  2x + 3/2

          14 =  4x+ 3

                     2

        14×2 =  4x + 3

         28 =  4x+3

       28 - 3 = 4x

             25= 4x

            25÷4 = x

            x = 25/4

Hence,  The length of a rectangle is 25/4 cm

Answer:

(i) 25/4 cm

(ii) 4cm ( if the question is reframed as in the bottom part of the explanation)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the perimeter of the rectangle is 14 cm

ie, taken l and b as the length and breadth of the rectangle,

we say, 2(l + b) = 14cm

given that the width/breadth is 3/4 cm (as it is given in your question)

we write,

2 ( l + (3/4) ) = 14

l + (3/4) = 14/2

l = 7 - (3/4)

 = (28-3)/4

 = 25/4 cm

I actually imagine the question is to calculate the length of the rectangle having perimeter 14 cm whose breadth is 3/4 the length.

in this case, b = (3/4) l

so 2( l + (3*l/4) ) = 14 cm

=> 7*l / 4 = 14/2 = 7

=> l/4 = 1

=> l = 1*4 = 4 cm

so the length is 4cm

then the breadth is = (3/4) * 4 = 3cm
