if platelet count is less, then our blood won't clot after having a cut.this will lead to a great loss of blood.

The sufferer will probably bleed to death. This is because platelets play important roles in haemostasis (cessation of bleeding). Their role can be seen in both primary and secondary haemostasis. In primary haemostasis : platelets will adhere to subendothelial collagen fibers of damaged blood vessels, chemical mediators(such as thromboxane A2, ADP, myosin light chain kinase) will then be released by platelets and lead to platelet aggregation and platelet plugs formation which prevent further bleeding. Whereas in secondary haemostasis, platelet : - releases Platelet Factor 3, which together with Tissue Factor, activate prothrombin to thrombin - releases fibrin stabilising factor to stabilise fibirin -its membrane(phospholipid) provides attachment sites for coagulating factors (such as F8a-9a, F10a-5a)
