let \: p(x) = x ^{2}  - x - 1 \\ g(x) = (x - 2) \\  =  > x - 2 = 0 \\  =  > x = 2 \\ p(2) = 2 ^{2}  - 2 - 1 \\  = 4 - 3 \\  = 1
Hence , the remainder is 1.
