Here is your answer---

Divisor = (x - 2)
Thus, X - 2 = 0
              x = 2

Remainder = 10

If we put, x = 2 in the given polynomial then remainder will be 10
[As per as Questions.]

Thus,
      p(x) = x^4-2x^3+3^2-ax+8
   p(2) = (2)
^4-2(2)^3+3^2-a(2)+8
   10 = 16 - 2(8) + 9 - 2a + 8
    10 = 16 - 16 +9 - 2a +8
     10 = 17 - 2a
     2a = 17 -10
      2a = 7
       a = 7/2
      a = 3.5

Thus, value of the a will be 3.5
