If the polynomials 2x^3+ax^2+3x-5 and x^3+ x^2-4x -a leave the same remainder when divided by (x-1) find 'a'.

The both the polynomial leaves remainder same

x-1,x=1---(1)

2x^3+ax^2+3x-5=x^3+x^2-4x-a

Fro eqn 1:

2+a+3-5=1+1-4-a

5+a-5=2-4-a

a+a=-2

a=-1
