let the cost of 1kg sugar be Rs. 100
And let the family consume 5kg of rice.
the total cost is 100*5=Rs. 500/-
let the increased price be Rs.125 per kg
the total cost should be remain the same..
the consumption of sugar decreases by 1kg i.e. 5kg-(500/125)=5-4=1
the percentage decrease in consumption is (5-4)/5*100=20%
And let the family consume 5kg of rice.
the total cost is 100*5=Rs. 500/-
let the increased price be Rs.125 per kg
the total cost should be remain the same..
the consumption of sugar decreases by 1kg i.e. 5kg-(500/125)=5-4=1
