As the probabilities of getting the event and not getting the event are complimentary, they add up to one. i.e. The sum of the probability of the event occuring and the event not occuring is 1.
We know that the probability of not getting the event is (x/3). So to know the probability of getting the event we've to subtract x/3 from 1.
So the answer is (1 - x/3).
