if the probability of winning chess game is 1/3 more than twice of probability of losing the match. find the probability of winning and losing the match.

Let the probability of loosing the game be x. The probability of winning the game =2x+1/3=(6x+1)/3 Probabilty of occurence +probability of non occurrence=1 Therefore, x+(6x+1)/3=1 ~(3x+6x+1)/3=1 ~9x+1=3 ~9x=2 ~x=2/9 Therefore probability of loosing =2/9 ||probability of winning=2/9×2+1/3 =(4+3)/9=7/9
