Let the two numbers be a and b

∴ HCF × LCM = a×b

∴32×36= 1152

For finding the Least Common Multiple (LCM), we list the multiples of these numbers.

Multiples of 32=32,64,96,128,160,192,224,256,288

Multiples of of 36= 36,72,108,144,180,216,252,288

Clearly, 288 is the LCM of these numbers.

Therefore,

HCF = \frac{aXb}{LCM}

HCF = \frac{1152}{288}

∴HCF = 4
