Let the weight of cat,rabbit and dog be x,y,z respectively
acc. to the given conditions;
x+y=10
therefore, x=10-y------(i)
z+y=20-----(ii)
x+z=24-------(iii)
therefore,substituting eqn(i) in eqn(iii);
10-y+z=24
therefore'
z-y=24-10
z-y=14-----(iv)
Adding (ii) and (iv);
z+y=20
z-y=14
----------------
2z=34
therefore z=34/2=17
therefore z=17-------(v)
substituting eqn (v)in eqn(ii);
x+z=24
therefore,
x+17=24
therefore,
x=24-17
x=7--------(vi)
substituting eqn(vi)in eqn(i);
x+y=10
7+y=10
y=10-7
y=3

weight of dog is 17 kg;
weight of cat is 7 kg ;
weight of rabbit is 3 kg.

hope i helped u:)

tithi: ummm.......i'll think ab it...n let u know tomorrow
hopey: aw that wont work my homework is in for tomorrow i will see if i understand the original :)
tithi: kk:)
hopey: would this work too r=rabbit d=dog c=cat (r+c+d)=10+20+24
hopey: r+c+d=54/2=27
tithi: no this will not
hopey: please explain why
tithi: coz u have to find the weight of cat,dog n rabbit.....n u cant directly write this ...firstly the question doesn't demand it and secondly u need to justify y u wrote so
hopey: ok thankyou
tithi: hmm.....hope u didnt mind..... n i m really sorry this is the simplest way i cud ans this question.
