length of backward tangent is 100 m

Concept:

Simple circular curve:

1. Tangent length (T_1B) = Rtan\frac{\theta}{2}

2. Apex distance (BE) = Rsec(\frac{\theta}{2}-1)

3. Cord length(T_1DT_2) = 2R sin\frac {\theta}{2}

4. Mid-ordinate (ED)=R(1-cos\frac{\theta}{2})

Calculation:

Given, R = 100 m and θ = 90°

∴ Tangent length = 100 × tan 45° = 100 m
