Explanation:

Let the common ratio between number of boys and girls be x

Number of boys =7x

Number of girls =5x

As per the question,

Number of boys = Number of girls +8

7x=5x+8

Transpose 5x to LHS, we will get

7x−5x=8

2x=8

Divide both sides by 2

x=4

No. of boys =7x=7×4=28

No. of girls =5x=5×4=20

Total class students 28+20=48

Answer:

Given :-

The ratio of boys and girls are in the ratio of 9:5.

The number of girls are 12 less than the number of boys.

To Find :-

What is the number of girls are in the class.

Solution :-

Let, the number of boys be 9x

And, the number of girls will be 5x

According to the question,

⇒ 9x = 5x - 12

⇒ 9x - 5x = 12

⇒ 4x = 12

⇒ x = 12/4

➥ x = 3

Hence, the required number of boys and girls are,

✦ Number of boys = 9x = 9(3) = 27

✦ Number of girls = 5x = 5(3) = 15

\therefore∴ The number of girls are class
