= Total Distance covered/ Total time taken
= Final distance - initial distance/ total time taken
= 1096-1048/(40/60)
= 48/(40/60)
= 48*60/40
= 72km/h
No the speedometer may or may not show this reading, because the vehicle can move at different speeds while transition and doesn't have a constant speed. But this is the average speed.
