let x^2 be the side

area of square= x^2

side = increased by 30%

then,

= x+ x * 30%

= x+ 3x/10

= (10x +3x)/10

= 13x/10


Area of Square = (13x/10)^2

                          =(169/100)x^2

                          =(169/100) [ area of 1st square]
