if the sides of a triangular field are 290m ,290m and 400m. find the area ofthe field .

So, let a perpendicular be drawn so that it bisects the original triangle into two equal smaller triangles.

Then,

let Hypotenuse = 400m

Base = 290/2 = 145m

Using Pythagoras Theorem,

Hypotenuse² = Based + Height²

400² = 145² + Height²

Height² =400² - 145²

Height² = 160000- 21025

Height= √138975

= 372.8 m

Now

area of field = 1/2 base × height

= 1/2 (290× 372.8)

= 54056 m²
