Case 1.

Let the sides of a triangle be x

Area = √3/4 × side^2

= √3/4 × x^2

= (√3 × x^2)/4

Case 2. when side is doubled

then the side be 2x

Area = √3/4 × side^2

= √3/4 × 2x × 2x

= ( 4 √3 x^2 )/4

Now,

area in 2st case/area in 2nd case

=> (√3 ×x^2)/4 / ( 4 × √3 x^2 ) / 4

= 1/4

Hence, When the side is doubled , the area of ∆ becomes 4 times .
