Let the two numbers be x and y

ATQ

x + y = 20  (1)

and x -y = 6 (2)

adding (1) and (2)

2x = 26

x = 13

 x + y = 20

y = 20 - 13 = 7

let the number be x and y
according to the above given equation
X + Y is equal to 20 _1
x minus Y is equal to 6 _2
adding the two equations
we will get
(x+y)+(x-y)=26
2x=26
x=13
putting the value of x in any of the above given equation
we will get the value of Y as 7

hope this might help
