Hello!
Sₘ = 2m² + 3m
✓ When m = 1 :
S₁ = 2( 1 )² + 3( 1 ) = 5 = a₁
✓ When m = 2 :
S₂ = 2( 2 )² + 3( 2 ) = 8 + 6 = 14
Then,
S₂ = a₁ + a₂
⇒14 = 5 + a₂
⇒ a₂ = 14 - 5 = 9
Hence,
The second term is 9.
Cheers!
