If the sum of the first n terms of an AP is 4n – n2 , what is the first term (that is S1 )? What is the sum of first two terms? What is the second term? Similarly, find the 3rd, the 10th and the nth terms

Is it 4n - 2n or 4n - n^2

ashwathimdpaixwc: if 4n - 2n, then Sum of 1 term = S1. Therefore, S1 = 2, Sum of two terms = S1 + S2, ie = 2 The AP is 2,2,2 ...2
ashwathimdpaixwc: If it is 4n - n^2, then Sum of 1 term = S1. therefore S1 = 3, Sum of 2 terms (4) = S1 + S2 => 3 + S2. Thus S2 = 1.Through same msthod u colud find S3 that is -1. So this is an AP with cd = -2. Therefore nth term = 5 -2n

Bro the question must be 4n - n^{2}.
