If the sum of the measures of two angles is 90° , they are known as complementary angles.

  • When a right angle or angle of 90°, is being obtained by adding two angles, then those two angles are considered to be complementary angles.
  • For example, we can say 30° and 60° are complementary angles. Because, their sum (30°+60°) = 90° or right angle. (Another example, 50° and 40°)
  • Now, we shouldn't get confused between complementary angles and supplementary angles. Sum of supplementary angles is 180° and sum of complementary angles is 90°.
