Given :-

  • Sum of three consecutive integers is 39

To Find :-

  • second number ?

Solution :-

  • let the first number be x
  • then, second number is x + 1
  • and third number is x + 2

and according to the question (sum of three consecutive integers is 39)

 \bold{: \implies x + x + 1 + x + 2 = 39 } \\ \\ \bold{: \implies 3x + 3 = 39 } \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ \bold{: \implies 3x = 39 - 3} \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ \bold{: \implies 3x = 36 } \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ \bold{: \implies x = \cancel\frac{36}{3} } \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ \bold{: \implies x = 12} \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \:

so, first number is 12

then, second number is 12+1 = 13

hence,

if the sum of three consecutive integers is 39,then the second number is 13
