Let two consecutive numbers be x and x + 1.

x + x + 1 = 53
2x = 52
x = 26

Larger no(x+1) = 26+1 = 27

Obviously, x is smaller than x + 1. So, the smaller number is 26.

let the firs consecutive no. be x
other consecutive no. be x+1
According to question
x +x+1 =53
2x+1=53
2x=53-1
2x=52
x=52/2
x=26
so first consecutive number is 26
second consecutive number is x+1
26+1
27
