If the sum of two number is 42 and their product is 437 ,then the absolute difference between the number is?

then other number =42-x

product of the numbers=437

x(42-x)=437

42x-x²-437=0

x²-42x+437=0

x²-19x-23x+437=0

x(x-19)-23(x-19)=0

(x-19)(x-23)=0

x=19 or x=23

hence the two required numbers are 19 & 23

and the absolute difference between the numbers is 4.
