Answer:

let the numbers be X

1st Number X+15

2nd Number X

X+15+X=35

2x+15=35

2x=35-15

2x=20

X= 20/2

=10

So, First No is X+15 = 10+15

=25.

And Second No is 10

The numbers are 10 & 25

Given :

The sum of two numbers is 35 and one number exceeds the other by 15

To find :

The numbers

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Form the equation to find the numbers

Here it is given that one number exceeds the other by 15

Let first number = x

Then second number = x + 15

By the given condition

x + x + 15 = 35

Step 2 of 2 :

Find the numbers

\displaystyle \sf{x + x + 15 = 35  }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 2x + 15 = 35}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 2x  = 35 - 15}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 2x  = 20}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x =  \frac{20}{2} }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x =  10}

First number = x = 10

Second number = x + 15 = 10 + 15 = 25

Hence the numbers are 10 & 25
