Answer:

let the two numbers be a & b

then

a+b=37 (1)

according to question

a=b+5

put value of a in equation( 1)

(b+5)+b=37

b+5+b=37

2b=37-5

2b=32

b=32/2=16

ist number=16+5=21

2nd number= 16

21

Step-by-step explanation:

let greater number be x

and smaller number be y

x+y=37____(1)

x-y=5_____(2)

from eqn 2

x=5+y_____(3)

put eqn 3 in 1

5+y+y=37

2y=37-5

y=32/2

y=16

put value of y in eqn 3

x=5+16

x=21

so larger number is 21

and smaller number is 16
