Let the two numbers be x and y.

Then ,

x-y=9 and xy=14

(x-y)^2 = x^2 + y^2 - 2xy

=> x^2 + y^2 = (x-y)^2 + 2xy = 9^2 + 2×14

=> x^2 + y^2 = 109 .(i)

Now,

Square of the sum of x and y = (x+y)^2

=(x^2 + y^2) + 2xy

=109 + 2×14 [From (i),

=137
