Answer:

Let speed In still water = x km/h

A/q,

(x-3) + (x+3) = 36

2x = 36

x = 18km/h

Time to cover 52.5km upward = 52.5/15 = 3.5 hours .

Time taken to cover 52.5 km in upward is 3.5 hours

Solution:

If the speed of a boat in still water is u km/hr and the speed of the stream is v km/hr, then:

Speed downstream = (u + v) km/hr

Speed upstream = (u - v) km/hr

speed of the current is 3 km/h

v = 3 km/hr

Given that,

Sum of upstream and downstream speed is 36 km/h

(u + 3) + (u - 3) = 36

2u = 36

u = 18

Therefore,

Speed upstream = u - v = 18 - 3 = 15 km/hr

Find time  taken to cover 52.5 km in upward?

Upward\ time = \frac{distance}{speed\ upstream}\\\\Upward\ time = \frac{52.5}{15}\\\\Upward\ time = 3.5

Thus time taken to cover 52.5 km in upward is 3.5 hours
