Answer:

Yes, maybe... The best standing theory on this is called the Fermi Paradox.

The standing theory here is that with the near-infinite chance of life out there, we have a near-infinite chance of not being the only life out there. Following that logic, we should have been contacted by alien life or at least confirmed its existence by now. The possible explanations for why we haven't are:

1) Life is very rare, almost impossibly rare.

2) Life is out there but given the vast distances and expanse of space finding it is like finding a needle in... the ocean. Times a million.

3) Life is out there and we are being studied by it.

4) We are the most advanced life in the universe. The first.

5) When a species reaches a certain level of advancement it usually destroys itself, know as "The Great Filter"; we either haven't gotten to that point yet or we are one the only life to make it through.

Those are a few of the main points to quickly answer your question. There is a lot more on this subject if you really are interested in it though. Search for "Wait But Why Fermi Paradox." The way it is explained on the Wait But Why website is both entertaining and informative. Good luck, hope this helped.
