If the value of magnification is negative , does that mean the the image is enlarged or diminished ?

we know that,
magnification=height of image/height of object
m=hi/ho
Let us take magnification= -x.
Now we have,
-x=hi/ho
-xho=hi
ho=hi/-x
By above equation we can clearly understand that height of object is larger than height of image because height of image is divided by negative value.
If x was positive then,height of object was smaller than height of image.
Hence we can conclude that,if magnification is negative then the image is diminished and also image is formed below the axis i.e image is inverted.
And if magnification is any positive value then the height of image is equal to height of object(in case of +1) or height of image is larger than height of object and also it is above the axis.
