Vapor density is related with molecular mass as:

Molar mass = 2 x V.D

Now, in methane CH4 , molar mass = 16,

So, Vapor density = 16/2 = 8

Here, relative vapor density is 4 for the substance i.e. four times the methane = 8x4 = 32

Hence, Molar mass of the substance = 2 x32 = 64

Answer:

Given V.D of gas w.r.t to CH₄ is 2

To find: Molecular mass of gas

Explanation:

V.D = M / 2          {Molar Mass/2}

Molar mass of methane is 16g

According to the question

V.D(gas)  = M (gas)     = 2

V.D(CH₄)     M(CH₄)

==>

M (gas)      =   2

    16

==>

M (gas)    = 16 × 2 = 32u

Hope this helps!!

Have a nice day!
