if the volume of block of metal changes by 0.12% when it is heated through 20 degree celsius , what is the coefficient of volume expansion of metal ?

∆V = Vα∆T --------> ∆V/V = α∆T

Change in volume = ∆V/V = 0.12%

∆V/V = α∆T

0.12% = α×20

 \frac{0.12}{100}  =  \alpha  \times 20 \\  \\  \frac{12}{1000}  = 20 \alpha  \\  \\  \alpha  =  \frac{12}{1000}  \times  \frac{1}{20}  =  \frac{6}{10000}  = 6 \times  {10}^{ - 4}  \\  \\  \alpha =  6 \times  {10}^{ - 4}
