wt of metal oxide= x
wt of oxygen = y
so, wt of metal = x-y
so equivalent wt of metal is the no of parts of metal reacted with 16 gram of oxygen....so
y gm oxygen is reacted with= x-y gm metal
1 gm oxygen is reacted with=x-y/y
so
16 gm oxygen is reacted with = x-y×16/y
so equivalent wt of metal= 16(x-y)/y...ans
