if the work done by a body on application of a constant force is directly proportional to the distance travelled by the body, express this in the form of an equation in two variables and draw the graph of the same by taking the constant force as 5 units. Also read from the graph the work done when the distance travelled by the body is
1) 2 units
2) 0 units

The equation formed in the above question is W=5.S.

Given:

Constant Force = 5N

To Find:

The linear equation between work and distance.

Solution:

According to the question, work done by a body on the application of constant force is directly proportional to the distance traveled by the body.

Let the work done by the body upon constant application of force, F, be W, and the distance traveled be S.

Therefore, According to the question,

W ∝ S

W=F.S

Where F acts as the constant of proportionality.

According to the question, F=5N

Hence, the equation is,

W=5.S

To plot the graph,

Draw the x and y-axis on a sheet of paper or graph paper and label them with distance and work done respectively.

Mark the values accordingly on both the axis.

Plot the graph accordingly. It will be a straight line.

Calculate the work done corresponding to the distance.

The equation formed in the above question is W=5.S.
