We can justify it by giving reason that algae is a primary food for small fishes and further large fishes eat small fishes ,hence food chain is going .If there is no algae there will be no fishes, fishes will die due to starvation.

Algae produce oxygen as a result of photosynthesis. This oxygen is utilised by the fishes in the sea for carrying out respiration. If there were no algae, no oxygen would have been produced. Thus fishes might have died.
