God is so far beyond us. God is a Spirt and is bigger than the universe and greater than space and time. We can not comprehend how big and great God is. He is everywhere and can see all things and He knows all things.
The Bible says we can know God exists by looking at nature, His creation. Living things, plants, animals, etc. are so beautiful, amazing, and extremely detailed. Only an extraordinary superior intelligence could create all these things.
God sent Jesus Christ, who came out of God, so we could know what He is like, and then to become the Savior of the world, to all who will believe in Him.
I recommend that you read the New Testament of the Bible, at least the Gospel of John, which is one of the eye-witness accounts of the life and teachings of Jesus. It is certainly worth checking into. In fact our eternal destiny depends on how we respond to Jesus. Learning who Jesus is and what He did for us changed my life.
