Answer:-

Coal, petroleum and natural gas are called fossil fuels which are formed naturally from dead remains of living organisms buried inside the earth several million years ago.

Formation of coal occurs due to natural processes like flooding by which forests get buried under soil.As more soil deposits over them, they get compressed and increases the pressure.

The temperature also rises as they sank deeper and deeper.Under high pressure and high temperature, dead plants slowly gets converted into coal. As coal contains mainly carbon, the slow process of conversion of dead vegetation into coal is called carbonisation .Since it was formed from the remains of vegetation, coal is also a Fossil Fuel.

Answer:

Explanation:

Coal is fossil fuel or fuel that comes from the remains of prehistoric plants or animals. The formation of coal occurs over millions of years via a process known as carbonation. In this process, dead vegetation is converted into carbon-rich coal under very high temperature and pressure.
