The value of sin theta and cos theta would be -1/2 and √3/2

Given

  • theta=11π/6

To find

  • cos theta
  • sin theta

Solution

we are provided with the value of angles in radian measure and are asked to find the value of trigonometric functions that is cos theta as well sin theta.

since the angle is provided in Radian measure and it is difficult for us to estimate the values of trigonometric expression we would first convert it into the known value that is degree measure.

let theta be represented as x for the sake of convenience.

ie, x = 11π/6

or, x = (11×180)/6

or, x = 330°

now, sinx = sin(330)

or, sin(330)

converting the angle to the known value,

sin(330) = sin(360 - 30)

or, -sin(30) {4th quadrant}

or, -1/2

cosx = cos(330)

or, cos(330) = cos(360-30)

or, cos(30) {4th quadrant}

or, √3/2

Therefore, the value of sin theta and cos theta (theta considered as x) would be -1/2 and √3/2
