If this question had stated that the walker walked 5km on 1st August and that he had increased this by 0.1km, each day thereafter. What would the formula have been for:
i. The 16th August?
and The nth day of the month

a1=a=5km

a16=a+(n-1)d

=5+(16-1)0.1

=5+15×0.1

=5+1.5

=6.5km

for nth day

an=a+(n-1)d

=5+(n-1)0.1

=5+0.1n-0.1

=4.9+0.1n
