Given : toffees are brought at the rate of 18 for a rupee,

To Find :  how many of them must be sold for a rupee to gain 20 %

Solution:

18  Toffee bought in  =  Rs 1

=> 1 toffee bought in  1/18  Rs

Gain 20 %   =  (1/18)  + (20/100)(1/18)

=(1/18)1.2

= 1/15

1 toffee cold for  1/15 Rs

=> 15 toffee sold in  1 Rs

15 of them must be sold for a rupee to gain 20 %

Answer: 15 toffee sold for a rupee to gain 20%

Step-by-step explanation: Toffee are bough at the rate of 28

Solution- 18 toffees bough in Rs 1

1 toffee bought in =\frac{1}{18}Rs

Now Gain 20%

So \frac{1}{18}+\frac{20}{100}  \times \frac{1}{18}

=\frac{1}{18}+\frac{1}{90}

=\frac{5+1}{9} =\frac{1}{15}

So, 1 toffee sold for Rs \frac{1}{75}

15 toffee sold in 1 Rs
