Given :  ΔABC ~ ΔDEF

BC=2.1 cm and EF=2.8 cm

area of triangle DEF is 16 cm²

To Find : Area of triangle ABC

Solution:

ΔABC ~ ΔDEF

Corresponding sides of similar triangles are in proportion

Hence

AB/DE = BC/EF  = AC/DF

BC/EF = 2.1/2.8  = 3/4

Ratio of  Area of  similar triangles = ( Ratio of corresponding sides)²

Area of  ΔABC / Area of  ΔDEF   = (BC/EF)²

=> Area of  ΔABC / 16  = (3/4)²

=>  Area of  ΔABC / 16  = 9/16

=> Area of  ΔABC = 9

Area of triangle ABC  is 9 cm²
