If two cubes of ice are pressed than why they stick together

when pressure is applied on the ice cubes the freezing point decreases. As result some of ice in between the two cubes melts . the energy ( latent heat of fusion) needed for melting is taken from the surroundings . However when pressure is released energy equals to latent heat of fusion is given out and the water in between the two cubes again freeze to join the two cubes together
