If two dice are rolled together, what is the probability of getting the sum equal to 7?

1/6th. or approximately 16.67%.

there are 36 possibilities (6 x 6 = 36).

1/36 = 0.0277777777 in perpitude.

each of those possibilities is approximately 2.78% probable.

there are 6 possibilities for the total of two six-sided dice to have a sum of 7:

1+6, 2+5, 3+4, 4+3, 5+2, 6+1.

6/36 = (6/6)/(36/6) = 1/6.

About 16.67%.

EDIT: before the question merge, the only sum requested was 7.

there are 4 possibilities for the total of two six-sided dice to have a sum of 5:

1+4, 2+3, 3+2, 4+1.

4/36 = 1/9. or 0.11111111111 in perpitude.

or approximately 11.11%.

Now… adding the possibility for a sum of 7 (remember 6/36) with the possibility for a sum of 5 (remember 4/36) yields:

10/36 = 5/18 = 0.2777777777 in perpitude.

or approximately 27.78%.

this can also be confirmed by adding 16.67% and 11.11%.

about 27.78%.

Two unbiased dice are rolled once. What is the probability of getting a sum of 7?

Let’s answer this in the simplest way. P(event) = (# desired outcomes)/(#possible outcomes).

We know there are 36 possible ways two die can provide all their possible “sums.” Like a 5 on 1st die and a 2 on the second die, the a 2 on the 1st die and a 5 onntbe 2nd and so forth including such combinations as a 2 on the 1st and a 3 on the second. So, there are 36 (6x6) ways this can happen. However . . .

There are only actually 6 ways to get the sum of 7. They are (1,6), (6,1), (5,2), (2,5), (3,4), and (4,3).

By the most basic definition of probability, the probability of a sum of 7 is 6/36 or 1/6.

There are other more sophisticated ways to derive this same conclusion, but this derivation relies directly on the basic definition of probability; P(event) = (# desired outcomes)/(#possible outcomes).

If two dices are rolled together, what is the probability of getting the sum equal to 7?

It’s quite easy:

Either you can write all the 36 outcomes and count the number of outcomes whose sum is 7.

(1,1), (1,2), (1,3), (1,4), (1,5), (1,6),

(2,1), (2,2), (2,3), (2,4), (2,5), (2,6),

(3,1), (3,2), (3,3), (3,4), (3,5), (3,6),

(4,1), (4,2), (4,3), (4,4), (4,5), (4,6),

(5,1), (5,2), (5,3), (5,4), (5,5), (5,6),

(6,1), (6,2), (6,3), (6,4), (6,5), (6,6)

Bolded ones are favourable outcomes.

or

You just have to found for which values x+y=7,wherex,y=1,2,3,4,5or6

just find out all possibilities and chose the favourable one.

What is the probability of rolling a sum of 7 with two dice?

When 2 dice are rolled total possible outcomes are 36. They are :-

(1,1), (1,2), (1,3), (1,4), (1,5), (1,6)

(2,1), (2,2), (2,3), (2,4), (2,5), (2,6)

(3,1), (3,2), (3,3), (3,4), (3,5), (3,6)

(4,1), (4,2), (4,3), (4,4), (4,5), (4,6)

(5,1), (5,2), (5,3), (5,4), (5,5), (5,6)

(6,1), (6,2), (6,3), (6,4), (6,5), (6,6)

Total favourable outcomes to get a sum of 7 when 2 dice are rolled simultaneously = 6

{i.e.,(1,6), (2,5), (3,4), (4,3), (5,2), (6,1) }

Probability = favourable outcomes /total outcomes

P = 6/36

P = 1/6.

Answer:

36 divide by 6 because 6 case only whose sum is equal to 7

amswer is 6/36 is 1/6
