If two forces in the ratio 5:9 act on two areas of cylindrical portion having ratio 10 ratio 3 find the ratio of pressure exerted answer for class 9.

let the forces be = 5x & 7x

let the area be = 4x & 5x 

therefore pressure 1 = force / area = 5x / 4x = 5/4 Pa

pressure 2 = force /area = 7x / 5x = 7/5 Pa

therefore ratio of pressure 1 and pressure 2 = 5/4/7/5 = 5/4*5/7 = 25/28

therefore the answer = 25 : 28
