Let the base of towers be k, then
tan 30= x/k
x= k tan 30
Therefore, x= k/ √3 .......(eq.1)
Now,
tan 60 = y/k
y= k tan 60
y= (k) (√3)........(eq. 2)
From equation 1 and 2 ,
x/y= k/√3/ k√3
x/y=k/√3 * 1/k√3
x/y= 1/3
Therefore x:y= 1:3
