If velocity v of a particle moving on a straight line
as a function of time t is given as v = 5 - t (m/s)
then the distance covered by the particle in first
10 s is
(1) 5.m
(2) 15 m
tot 25 m

v=5- t
dx/dt = 5 - t
dx= (5-t) dt
integrating both sides
x=5t-t^2/2....... where t goes from 0 to 10
we know v becomes negative after 5 seconds, so Displacement decreases but distance increases. thus we add Displacements of first 5 and next five seconds separately as shown in the picture below.
